PRIMOJEL (SODIUM STARCH GLYCOLATE) is the carboxymethyl ether sodium salt. It is a whit to off white tasteless, odorless powder. It is used in pharmaceutical industry as an excipient helping in rapid disintegration. It absorbs water quickly which result in swelling and this in turn provides rapid disintegration of granules as well as tablets. It also acts as a suspending and gelling agent.
