SPIRONOLACTONE is a diuretic which is used to treat hypertension. It is also effective as an adjunct in managing edematous states specifically when potassium-sparing diuretic effect is required like in congestive heart failure, nephrotic syndrome and hepatic cirrhosis. It is effective in the treatment and management of hypokalemia and hyperaldosteronism. Moreover, it is used in veterinary medicine with furosemide for controlling ascites.
