BILBERRY EXTRACT 5-1 is obtained from the plant Vaccinium myrtillus. Due to the presence of anthocyanins, it is a powerful antioxidant. It also acts against cancer by imparting its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative properties. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory property of anthocyanins makes it a potent cardio-protective. It also inhibits contraction of smooth muscles and aggregation of platelets which is responsible for its antihypertensive and antithrombotic effects. It also gives hypoglycemic effect by stimulating insulin secretion and anti-obesity effect by inhibiting lipase enzyme which in turn lowers fat absorption.
