It contains a compound naming ëhyperforiní which has significant inhibitory action against gram-positive bacteria and both methicillin and penicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus were susceptible to it. It contains catechins and flavonoids which work against influenza virus. It has 3-hydroxy lauric acid which has potential anti-HIV activity and also has hypericin which inactivated the bovine diarrhea virus completely.
