XYLAZINE HCL is a non-narcotic clonidine analogue and an adrenergic receptor agonist which is used to produce sedation, muscle relaxation, analgesia and anesthesia in horses, cattle and in other animals. It produces the sedative and analgesic action by depressing the central nervous system. It gives the muscle relaxant action by inhibiting the transmission of intraneural impulses in the CNS.
