Until now, the Australian market has not been able to access ZMA (Zinc, Magnesium and Aspartate) as an ingredient to using other formulations. As a standalone product, ZMA has already carved out a strong market, particularly with athletes, but its potential use and reach is significantly larger.
What is ZMA?
ZMA® is a highly bioavailable anabolic support formula which includes Zinc methionine sulfate (L-OptiZinc®), Zinc diaspartate, Magnesium aspartate dihydrate and Vitamin B6 formulated in a unique ratio. This formula optimises the absorption of zinc and magnesium, while Vitamin B6 further increases the absorption and utilisation of both these minerals.
Athletes, especially bodybuilders, have been enjoying the benefits of ZMA® for over ten years. ZMA’s market is not limited to athletes, with the ageing population also shown to benefit from increased performance and muscle recovery.
A clinical study* is available supporting the positive impact ZMA® can have on the performance of muscle strength, power and recovery. The Huffington Post has recently posted an article highlighting ZMA to also help the body achieve deeper levels of REM sleep.
The initial research has shown ZMA® to significantly increase testosterone and growth hormone levels, which are linked to muscle growth. This is supported by additional studies into the impact of zinc and magnesium supplements as well as the value of Vitamin B6 in increasing their levels of absorption.
- 43.8% increase in testosterone levels*
- 25.4% increase in insulin-like growth fact (IGF-1)*
- 4.8 times more quadricep muscle strength*
- 1.2 times more quadricep power*
- 1.6 times more hamstring strength*
- 1.7 times more hamstring power*
- It contains L-OptiZinc® which is absorbed 24% better than Zinc Sulphate and is 21% better retained
What is new
This ZMA® proprietary formula has not been used in Australia before, and now TransChem has exclusive access to the raw material formulation. ZMA® can be used in tablet, capsule and powder products. Based on the success of the raw ingredient around the world, the sports nutrition and nutraceutical markets are likely to be the key beneficiaries of its release.
Approvals for the sale of ZMA® in Australia have now been met, with TransChem assisting the manufacturer through this exhaustive process. Samples will be made available upon request to your TransChem account manager.
